Smithsonian and Acorn TV channels are now for you in iOS 12.3

Smithsonian and Acorn TV channels are now available for you on iOS 12.3. Recently with the release of iOS 12.3 and tvOS 12.3, Apple launched its overhauled TV app, bringing new Apple TV Channels to which you can subscribe right on your iOS devices, with all payment and content handled by Apple. In Canada, the new TV app gains only two Apple TV Channels: Smithsonian and Acorn TV. These channels are also available in the U.S. as well, with the only difference that in the US you also can watch HBO, Showtime, Stars and Cinemax. Due to regional licensing, these aforementioned channels are owned by Bell Media in Canada.

The Smithsonian TV Channel

The Smithsonian Channel is showing at $3.99 per month after your free 7 Day trial. Smithsonian Channel is a Canadian pay television channel, owned and operated by Blue Ant Media. Minority partner is Smithsonian Networks, owners of the American channel, Smithsonian Channel, from which the brand is licensed and much of the programming is purchased. The channel broadcasts factual programming on categories such as air and space, science and nature, pop culture, and history.

You can subscribe to the channel according to your place of residence. The service is available in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, New Foundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon, NWT and Nunavut provinces.

If you already get Smithsonian Channel through your cable provider, you can stream hundreds of hours of programming online at tve.smithsonianchannel.com. Just select your provider and sign in with your provider credentials.

Acron TV Channel

In Canada, Acorn TV is at $8.99 per month, with a free 7-day trial. Acorn TV is an American subscription streaming service offering television programming from the United Kingdom, as well as Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Spain. It is available on a variety of devices including Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Roku. Acorn TV is owned by RLJ Entertainment, Inc. Acorn TV offers a combination of new and classic mysteries, dramas, comedies, and documentaries. The service licenses content from producers and distributors including ITV, Channel 4, BBC Worldwide, All3Media, DRG, ZDF, and Content Media Corp. The service also offers a selection of documentaries, including historical, travel, arts, and science titles.

Once the app is installed, you can log in with your existing Acorn TV credentials or create a new one.
